What you need to know before, during and after your appointment.
Spray Tans
-
A flawless tan all begins with great prep work. I am your LAST stop!
Complete ALL other services at least 24 hours prior to your tan. This includes: facials, waxing, shaving, massages, manicures and pedicures. We protect your nails so no worry about them getting stained.
Shower, shave and exfoliate the night before, and NOT right before you come. Exfoliating is KEY to a flawless tan. Grab an exfoliating mitt or glove and gently exfoliate the body.
Avoid wearing any lotion, deodorant, makeup or any products on the skin to your appointment.
Wear dark, loose-fitting clothes and loose shoes or flip flops to your appointment. The baggier the better! Do NOT wear jeans, leggings, or anything tight.
Ditch the DOVE, say NO WAY to OLAY, and put aside anything from Victoria Secret and Bath n Body. These can cause a film to stay on the skin, creating a barrier between the tan you skin. Anything containing oils is also best avoided. We have products that are tan safe available for purchase or can recommend other options.
Any questions? Never hesitate to ask. We are a team!
-
Biggest question we get is: what to wear? Most go nude or wear bottoms, and go topless. You can wear as little or as much as you want. You’re comfort is #1!
Just know that you will have tan lines with whatever you decide to wear and if you are under 18, undergarments are required.
We will discuss color and your desired level of darkness.
Prior to the spray tan we will prep the skin with a PH Balance Spray, barrier cream (where needed), and our little secret sauce.
We will instruct you how to stand and turn before and during your session.
Once we finish, we set you with a finishing powder. It has a luxury feel, smells good, helps with stickiness, and helps the tan not to transfer onto clothing.
-
Rinse at the time you are advised to do so. Do not go past this!
Your first rinse use warm water, NO SOAP. Use your hand to gently brush the water down your body. Don’t worry, this is not your tan going down the drain but the cosmetic bronzer.
Gently pat the skin dry with a towel. NEVER RUB and make sure you use a tan safe moisturizer after.
If your tan looks a little lighter, don’t worry. It takes a full 24 hours for the tan to develop and see your final results.
After 24 hours, you can shower as normal, using a tan safe body wash or soap.
Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! This will help your tan look beautiful, hydrated and even help prolong the life of your tan. Again, use a tan safe moisturizer.
A few things to avoid:
-No exercise, sweating, or sex for 24 hours.
-Oceans, hot tubs and swimming pools.
-No perfume or spray directly on the skin for 24 hours.
-Keep that Dove, Olay away.
-Lotions and oil containing products (other than what is tan safe).
Spray Tan Tip: We want you to enjoy your tan no matter what the occasion is. So whether you are heading to vacay or don’t want to skip that gym session, we can help you with some tips and tricks to prolong your tan.
Sugaring
-
Prior to your sugar appointment, here’s a few things to know.
-EXFOLIATE! Especially those getting a Brazilian. Gently exfoliate the area 48 hours prior to your appointment. This helps to remove dead skin, allowing the sugar to adhere to the hair more easily. This will make it more pain free for you and easier for your technician.
-Moisturize! Yep, even there.
-STOP shaving! We need about 1/4 -1/2 inch of hair growth (think a grain of rice), anything shorter will not remove. If you have recently shaved, a good rule of thumb is to wait about 3-4 weeks before you schedule your next sugaring appointment.
-Getting a Brazilian? Keep it clean! If you are able to shower prior to your appointment, great! Make sure to use warm water, NOT HOT. EITHER WAY, a cleansing wipe will be provided to you to wipe the intimate area from front to back. Your technician will also cleanse you before and after your sugaring.
-Wear loose fitting clothes to your appointment. NO TIGHT CLOTHES OR LEGGINGS for 24 hours!
-Let’s talk about SEX! Please know if you have sex before your appointment, we know. Oozing can happen, yep I said it! So, we ask that if you can, not to have sex before your appointment. A standard practice is no sex 24 hours before or after.
-ON your PERIOD? You can still get sugared or waxed, we kindly ask that you wear a tampon to your Brazilian appointment. Just a heads up, while sugaring during your period is totally acceptable, just know, it will heighten your pain and sensitivity. So, if that doesn’t sound fun to you, book your appointment for the following week.
-Make sure to discontinue any use of chemical exfoliants prior to service. This tends to be more common for facial sugaring but applies to anywhere you may put it prior to sugar. Best to allow 5-7 days between stopping and your appointment. Examples of chemical exfoliants are: Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, and any Retinols (Retina A’s).
-
Once your session is complete, post skincare and oil will be applied. If this is your first brazilian session with Bronzed Sugar, a sample oil will be given to you to take home. Post sugar is also available for purchase. It is a MUST HAVE, as it helps to soothe irritation, hydrates, and protects against ingrown hairs.
After Care Instructions:
-Apply oil after shower and/or prior to bed. I recommend 2x a day for the first week.
-Avoid tight clothing, hot showers, saunas, sweating, sun exposure and sex for 24 hours.
-Gently exfoliate the area starting 48-72 hours post sugaring. I recommend doing this a few times a week for optimal results. This helps to eliminate dead skin, allowing the hair to come through the surface of the skin and minimizes ingrown hairs.
To know:
-Sugaring is a a natural alternative to wax. Even though sugar is natural, some irritation, redness, and bumps may be present. You can expect this to subside within a few hours up to 24 hours post appointment. This happens because we are removing hair from the follicle and it is a normal immune reaction. You can always opt to take non drowsy allergy medicine prior to help with the histamine reaction.
Facials
-
We are so excited to care for your skin and make you glow! Now let’s talk about a few things to DO and NOT DO PRIOR to your appointment.
Before:
Always stay hydrated. Pro Tip: This also helps make extractions easier and less painful.
Wax or shave a minimum of 24 hours prior.
Make sure to complete your form prior to your appointment. This will help us to determine what you need to avoid prior and also what facial is best suited for you.
Dress Comfy! We provide you a spa wrap but wear something that is easy to relax in.
Let us know us know your concerns and any expectations. Have an event or special occasion? Knowing this helps to tailor your facial.
This is your time to relax! Talk as little or as much as you want but we highly recommend quiet during your massage portion for total relaxation.
Avoid:
Discontinue use of chemical exfoliants! (Especially Retinols and acne medication). Good rule of thumb is not to use these 5-14 days prior, depending on your facial.
No Sunbathing or tanning beds before your appointment.
Getting BOTOX! Allow 14 days post facial before you head in. However, if you are getting a Glo2facial, that can be done the same day and brings about even better results. You’ll want to do this facial first, then the botox.
We recommend you Skip the makeup. If not, keep it light.
-
Avoid:
Harsh chemicals and exfoliants. Let your esthetician recommend when you can add this back in. This will vary depending on the facial treatment.
Avoid sun sunexposure for at least 24-48 hours post facial. May be longer depending on the facial given.
Allow 14 days post BOTOX before next facial.
We recommend you Skip the makeup. If not, keep it light.
Pro Tips: Results vary especially depending on the type of facial you select and how you care for your skin afterwards. Our Glo2facial has the most lasting results and is our most popular. Dermaplaning also provides lasting results due to the hair removal benefit and can be combined with most facials.
Keeping yourself and your skin hydrated will help to prolong your results. Using quality skincare that is specific to your individual needs will also help.
Facials are recommended every 4-6 weeks. For other skin concerns, doing a series of facial treatments may prove to be more beneficial and can be done every 2 weeks for a period of time.
Before and after your appointment we will cover more that is specific to you.
